GÖKBEY — Rocket

A rocket for the Latin American Space Challenge (LASC), targeting 1 km apogee on a student-built solid motor and carrying a 1U CubeSat.

Focus

In the 1 km solid-propellant category of the Latin American Space Challenge in Brazil: flying the rocket as close as possible to the target apogee, separating the payload and recovering both rocket and payload safely. Apogee accuracy is the largest single scoring item; the flight must be verified by simulation in advance and all documents are prepared in English.

Approach

GÖKBEY flies on a student researched and developed (SRAD) solid motor burning KNSB (potassium nitrate and sorbitol). The payload is a 1U (10 × 10 cm) CubeSat that separates from the rocket at apogee and carries out its own mission. The flight is modelled with RocketPy, the competition's official simulator, to study apogee, descent speed and stability across wind conditions and scenarios.
